We’ve been building with Umbraco since 2011, helping organisations create websites, upgrade older platforms and make publishing easier for their teams.
Over the years, our work has taken us into public services, education, energy and international events. We’ve enjoyed learning about the organisations behind those projects and finding ways to make Umbraco work well for the people using it.
Today, Phases is an Umbraco Gold Contributing Partner with 25+ in-house Umbraco developers. If you’re looking to hire Umbraco developers in India, we can help with an individual specialist or a dedicated team, supported by technical leads, QA and DevOps.
You can meet the proposed people before agreeing to an engagement, talk through your plans and hear how they would approach the work.
Experience we can share with your team
Our team of Umbraco developers have spent years working through migrations, upgrades, integrations and publishing requirements. That gives us experience to draw on when you bring us a project, including the questions worth asking before development begins.
For BBYO, the work involved bringing three websites from Kentico, WordPress and Webflow onto one Umbraco Cloud platform. We built migration tooling and restructured 5,000+ pages for an organisation spanning 60+ countries and 700+ chapters.
The value of that work reaches into everyday publishing. BBYO’s teams have a shared content foundation, and our developers in the Umbraco team gained experience with the planning, migration and validation involved in bringing several websites together. If you’re considering a similar consolidation, we can discuss the approach with you in detail. Read the BBYO case study.
NYC Votes has given us experience in a different setting. Its website provides election information for 5.5 million eligible voters, supports 14 languages and receives frequent updates around elections.
Phases delivered the initial Umbraco website in four months and continues developing it with Blue State. We value that continuing relationship because it lets us understand how the service is used and contribute to its development over time.
Our team includes Umbraco Certified Professionals, Certified Expert and Certified Master expertise, alongside four Umbraco MVPs. Those credentials support the experience you can discuss with the proposed Umbraco developers. Their technical articles, upgrade checklists, and previous project contributions give you further ways to assess whether the fit feels right.
Understanding what your website needs to support
We take an interest in how your organisation works because that affects what we build.
Our projects span public services, education and youth organisations, energy publishing, sustainability programmes and events. Each has brought different audiences, content requirements and working arrangements into the conversation.
For C40 Cities Finance Facility, the brief covered four languages and 38 projects. We delivered the Umbraco implementation, integrations and Cloud deployment, with reusable sections for projects, tools and stories. An interactive map gives visitors another way to explore the work. The publishing structure helps the organisation share a varied programme through one website.
Our Green Key work spans 12+ countries, bringing together brands, national websites and multilingual content. The platform was rebuilt on Umbraco 10 with Podio integration, hotel data feeds and maps. Working with a programme of this reach has given us experience with both shared publishing requirements and regional needs.
For dmg::events, we support an Umbraco and React foundation for 100+ high-traffic event websites. A shared foundation lets the portfolio reuse components while giving individual events room to express their identity. Ongoing development and support help us understand the wider portfolio as it develops.
An energy-sector publication needed external material brought into its editorial workflow. Scheduled Bloomberg and Vimeo imports, category mapping and Elasticsearch helped its editors manage incoming content and search a growing library. We enjoy this aspect of development: using integrations to reduce repeated tasks and give publishing teams better tools.
The same interest in editorial freedom informed our work for an annual design conference. A WordPress-to-Umbraco migration provided a reusable CMS and design foundation that editors could adapt for successive editions.
These projects help us understand the questions you may bring, while your organisation’s requirements guide the recommendations we make.
Giving an established website its next chapter
An upgrade deserves care for everything your team has built and published over the years.
Our work for Valorem Reply involved upgrading from Umbraco 7 to 13 and rebuilding on .NET 8. We planned the transition and validated content, templates and workflows before launch while maintaining service.
That experience informs how we discuss upgrades with you. We review the existing implementation, custom code, packages and integrations, then agree the work and testing required.
Historical project versions describe what we delivered at the time. For a new engagement, we assess the appropriate version against your requirements and current support dates.
Working within your requirements
Your website may serve several countries, languages or departments, each with its publishing responsibilities. We want to understand those arrangements so the implementation supports the people using it.
With teams in India and Denmark and a presence in the United States, Phases brings experience from international projects. We agree on communication, access, reviews and release arrangements according to your engagement.
Accessibility, privacy and security also belong in the initial discussions. Your requirements may cover personal-data handling, authentication, editor permissions, publishing approvals and release acceptance.
We work through these expectations with your stakeholders and agree who will review each area. That gives development, QA and DevOps an agreed basis for their work and gives you visibility into how the requirements will be addressed.
Being part of the Umbraco community
Umbraco has been part of our working lives for years, and we care about contributing to the community around it.
Our Umbraco developers participate in forums, create packages and contribute open-source work. They also publish technical articles and upgrade guidance, making lessons from their experience available to others.
We enjoy the exchange that follows. Answering a question can lead to a discussion with someone using Umbraco differently. Sharing a package gives other developers something to try, review and improve. Those conversations help us learn as well as contribute.
You can explore this work before speaking with us. It gives you a sense of how our developers explain technical questions and offers a starting point for discussing your project.
Participation in Codegarden, Umbraco Partner Summits and online events keeps us involved in conversations with Umbraco HQ, partners and developers. Official training and release documentation add to that learning.
Current areas of work include Umbraco 17 LTS and .NET 10, modern backoffice extensions, Umbraco 18 Library and Elements, Umbraco Cloud and Umbraco Compose. We assess these options according to your website and publishing requirements. Explore Umbraco 17 and the Umbraco 18 release.
Supporting the community in India
Members of Phases help run the Umbraco India User Group, bringing developers together to learn, ask questions and share experience.
We also sponsored India’s first Umbraco Festival, where our team presented lessons from consolidating three CMS platforms. Sharing that project gave attendees an opportunity to discuss the work with the people who delivered it.
These activities are part of making Umbraco knowledge accessible in India and helping people find others they can learn with.
Welcoming the next generation
We want students to have the opportunity to learn Umbraco, try building with it and meet people who can help them along the way. Our experience has given us a great deal to share, and we care about making that knowledge available to people beginning their careers.
That commitment took us to Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology in September 2026, where our specialists delivered the official Umbraco Fundamentals programme to 30 students through Confluence 3.0.
Through hands-on website building, .NET, C# and preparation for certification, students could explore how they might use Umbraco in their studies and future work. See the programme announcement.
We’d love to see those students return with their first projects, join user-group discussions and eventually share their experience with others. Giving them an encouraging introduction is one contribution we can make towards the community’s future.
Recognition that belongs to the work
Phases became India’s first Umbraco Gold Partner in 2018 and continues as an Umbraco Gold Contributing Partner. Our involvement has grown through both project delivery and contributions to the platform.
NYC Votes won Best Gold Partner Solution at the Umbraco Awards 2021. The award recognised a public-service project our team continues to develop.
The Umbraco India User Group website received runner-up recognition for Best Designed Site at the Umbraco Awards 2026. Seeing a community project recognised brings attention to the people and knowledge sharing it supports.
BBYO was one of the top three finalists for the CEO Award at the 2026 Umbraco U.S. Partner Summit, adding recognition to the migration and consolidation work behind its publishing platform.
Phases also received Contributing Gold Partner recognition in 2024 and 2025, while four members of our team received Umbraco MVP recognition in 2026 for their community contributions.
You can explore the projects in Umbraco’s 2021 announcement and 2026 results.
Considering AI with your editors
Phases’ founder participates in the AI in Umbraco Advisory Board, offering feedback on proposed features for editors, marketers and platform administrators. Umbraco HQ makes its product decisions.
If AI is part of your plans, we’d like to understand the task you want to improve and how your editors would use it. Permissions, privacy, data access and editor review are considered before agreeing to a pilot and assessing its usefulness.
How we can work together
You may want an experienced Umbraco developer to join a team and process you already have. For a broader brief, we can propose a dedicated group with technical leadership, QA and DevOps support according to the work.
We review the requirements, check skills and availability, and introduce the proposed people. Before development begins, we agree on responsibilities, access, communication, reviews and commercial terms.
Published feedback offers another perspective on that relationship:
“Phases provided us with the perfect solution by recommending and implementing Umbraco, seamlessly integrated with Podio.”
IT & Digitisation Manager, Kommune Kujalleq
“The team has done a great job all these years... especially when it comes to tight deadlines and urgent projects.”
Digital Manager, published testimonial
Can I meet the developer before agreeing?
Yes. You can talk through the project and the proposed specialist’s experience before agreeing to the engagement.
How is pricing worked out?
We review the role, scope, duration and responsibilities before proposing terms for an individual developer, a dedicated team or an agreed project scope.
When could we begin?
Share your preferred timing with the requirement, and we’ll check availability and discuss a start date with you.
Tell us what you have in mind
If you’re looking to hire Umbraco developers in India, we’d be happy to hear about your website and what you’re planning.
Your current version, important integrations and preferred timing give us a starting point. We’ll review the requirements with an Umbraco lead, suggest the expertise that fits and introduce the people so you can talk it through together.
